Baby Booties & Blankie

4/12/10: This post is now linked up at:

I can post this now that the gift has been given. I borrowed the tutorial from stardustshoes. She recommends a particular fabric for the soles of the shoes. I tried to find it, but apparently it is a "fall fabric" and not available yet. Instead of freaking out (because I have a bad habit of needing everything to be perfect), I decided to instead use some thrifted wool sweaters that I had felted. Turned out to be a good idea--soft, cheap, and easy to sew. Crisis averted. I used the blanket to wrap the booties and a scrap of yarn to tie it all together and attach a gift tag.

This cute little project took all of an hour to make. If it wasn't already whatever o'clock in the morning, I would've made some more for future gift-giving to keep me from staying up until whatever o'clock in the morning the night before those gifts are "due"! Unfortunately, I have the procrastination bug, too. I think the need for perfection may feed that a bit...

Making these tiny booties will give you baby fever, or make it worse if you are already suffering from it. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Which reminds me, J and I are celebrating our 10th anniversary at this moment at this fine establishment. Yay for us. It's been an awesome ride so far. I can hardly wait to see what the next ten years have in store for us...

  1. I hope you had a great time, and J left his hand off of your dinner plate.
